Frequently asked questions

How do I restore my membership?

Open VocaX, go to Account Settings, and tap the Opus Membership row (on a device where no membership is active yet, that row shows Join along its trailing edge). At the bottom of the subscription page that opens, tap Restore Purchases and sign in with the same Apple ID you used to buy. Subscriptions and billing run through the App Store. We don’t see your payment details.

Will my study records survive a new phone?

Yes — if you were signed in with your Apple Account on your old device and had iCloud turned on, your study records are kept in your own private iCloud database. Sign in to the same Apple ID on your new device and open VocaX, and Apple’s sync brings them across. Whether they arrive, and when they arrive, depends on the sync status, your account, and network conditions; individual records may be overwritten by a newer version when changes are merged after a conflict. When you are not signed in, study records stay on this device only and do not travel with your account. Derived summaries such as statistics and the daily overview are also stored on this device only, and they can be rebuilt at any time. The app reports no “sync finished” confirmation — when a sync lands is up to Apple, so before you change devices, leave this one online with VocaX open for a while so that your most recent records can be uploaded. This sync is not a separate backup.

How do I cancel my subscription or ask for a refund?

Apple handles both. To cancel: Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions. For a refund: go to reportaproblem.apple.com in a browser, sign in, and submit the request.

There is no pronunciation audio, and the listening exercises are silent.

Start with two things: the system volume and the Focus mode you have on right now. Pronunciation, read-aloud and playback in VocaX go through their own audio channel, which the Ring/Silent switch on the side of the iPhone does not silence — so that switch is not the reason you hear nothing. Turn the system volume up, and make sure no Focus mode is muting audio.

Why is photo recognition inaccurate?

It works best in even light with a sharp focus. Avoid glare, handwriting, and decorative display fonts. You can also tap the word you want to look up instead of scanning it.

When does the Weekly Insights Report appear?

The Weekly Insights Report covers the last complete calendar week before this one, and it is generated at the next suitable moment during that week rather than on a fixed Sunday; the day your week starts on follows the calendar on this device. The report is off by default, and you need an active subscription to turn it on in Settings. If you did not study that week, or the device never settles down, that edition is not generated.

I am not getting review reminders.

Review reminders are posted directly by this App on your device, not scheduled in advance, and appear in the system Notification Center. In Settings, this family of reminders is called Daily Review Reminder. It is on by default, and you can turn it off at any time. Reminders appear at fixed intervals based on how long you use the app during a day, so there can be more than one on the same day, and the count starts over after midnight.

Still not solved?

Email support@vocax.app and include the following. It helps us find the problem faster.

We reply as soon as we can after receiving your request. For subscription questions, start by telling us your subscription plan, when the issue happened, and the message you see on screen. You don’t need to send — and please don’t send — your Apple Account password or any payment details. If we need to check a transaction, the order information in the purchase confirmation that Apple sent you helps us match it; share only the smallest part of it that relates to your issue.
